Store Manager For The Family Tree Garden Center

OVERVIEW:

 Manages the sales, operations and fiscal activities of the store.  Plans and develops systems and procedures to improve the operating quality and efficiency of the store.  Supervise, coach and train staff according to company policies and procedures. Handles landscape installation logistics.

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure customer service and satisfaction is number one priority.
  • Manage store sales, operations, inventory turns, margins and profitability.
  • Approve labor/scheduling to maintain budget guidelines.
  • Ensure the store is staffed with qualified employees through the recruiting, screening and interviewing processes.
  • Provide ongoing training to all store personnel to allow development and advancement within the company.
  • Open and close the store as needed.
  • Ensure that operational standards as written in the Operational Manual are consistently meet.
  • Ensure product is merchandised in a manner that enhances customer appeal.
  • Oversee product inventory to ensure that store has adequate stock to meet customer’s needs.
  • Monitors safety compliance and ensure supplies of safety equipment are on hand.
  • Perform yearly evaluations for all core employees on yearly basis or as needed.
  • See to all performance based issues with employees in a timely manner for development, growth and disciplinary action.
  • Accept other responsibilities as assigned.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Two year degree in Horticultural or Agricultural Business or related field or five years Retail Management experience.
  • GGIA Certified within first two years of job classification.

OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES, QUALIFICATIONS

  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations with poise, tact and diplomacy.
  • Computer skills:
  • Intermediate level of skill in Outlook and Excel.
  • Point of Service Training
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs on occasion and 25 lbs regularly.
  • Strong leadership and communication ability to delegate efficiently.
  • Strong ability to train others.
  • Requires standing and/or sitting for long periods of time.
  • Ability to multi-task.
